International Wine Cellar | Rating:
Nose is a fruitcake with prominent cherry and white raisin, soaked in eau de vie Glossy, creamy and rich in the mouth, with fine slate, white raisin, pitted fruits, citrus, brown spices and flowers subtly woven into a long, intricate golden braid of flavors. More botrytis here, but a very clear botrytis, along with insistent slate tones.Author: David SchildknechtIssue: January/February 2000

Created in 1911 by a split of family vineyards, this estate has built its stellar reputation on the strength of its long-lived Rieslings. First under the direction of Johann Josef Prum, and followed by subsequent generations, the winery is now maintained by Dr. Manfred Prum. The 33 acres of estate vineyards on the steep, rocky slopes of the middle Mosel produce 13,000 cases annually, running the full spectrum of the Pradikat. These vineyards boast 70% original rootstock, and low-yielding old vines. The resulting wines are known for their full-flavored fruit, spiciness, and slow development, which greatly rewards patient cellaring.
