Red-ruby. Cherry, lead pencil and a weedy note on the nose. Sweet, somewhat soft flavors of cherry, currant, tobacco and lead pencil. Tannins are fairly ripe, but this wine could use a bit more verve.

The 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Knight's Valley is an elegant, straightforward, medium-bodied Cabernet with attractive herb-tinged currant fruit, spice box, and subtle wood aromas and flavors.

Held up surprisingly well, a bit hot on the finish.
