    Ruby-red. Sappy, bright aromas of cherry, minerals and tobacco. Lush, sweet and easygoing, with attractively supple texture for the vintage. Not particularly complex but offers good balance and ripeness. Finishes with slightly drying tannins and notes of leather and tobacco. A taste of the merlot component of the '99 Alluvium suggested that this very ripe wine will be quite full and chewy, with almost exotic spice character.
