1998 Beaux Frères Pinot Noir The Beaux Frères Vineyard
UNITED STATES / OREGON / RIBBON RIDGE
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 88
Bright ruby-red. Pungent oak spice, raspberry, tar, bacon and lilac on the slightly high-toned nose; strong torrefaction element. Concentrated, sappy red berry and oak flavors nicely framed by juicy acidity. Some distinct high tones and some serious, building tannins give this structured, ripe wine a slight finishing dryness.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: March/April 2001Wine Spectator | Rating: 92
Rich and generous in flavor. A lush mouthful of blackberry, anise, vanilla and spice that lingers, balanced with a nice zing of citrusy acidity in the middle. Has layers of complexity without excess weight. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 1,400 cases made.Author: Harvey Steiman

What a great wine! a beautiful example of a well aged well made Oregon pinotAuthor: Reed D
The Beaux Freres estate property, an old pig farm, is 24 acres of tightly-spaced, low-yielding vines on the steep slopes of Ribbon Ridge in Northern Willamette Valley. Winemaking philosophy and technique follow a commitment to minimal intervention, with native yeast fermentations and only one racking prior to bottling. All the wines are unfined and unfiltered. The wine remains in French oak for a period of 10-12 months, in varying proportions of new wood depending on the strength of the vintage. Because of the "reductive" winemaking style, which keeps the wine away from oxygen as much as possible, Beaux Freres Pinots are made for bottle age. The end result is a true expression of prime Willamette terrior.
