Aromas of coconut and dried currant join an herbal edge. Balanced, complex and spicy, it ends with drying tannins.

The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (almost totally from the Nun's Canyon Vineyard) is reasonably priced for a wine of such high quality. An opaque purple color is accompanied by a big, bold, spicy, oaky nose infused with licorice, coffee, and abundant quantities of blackberry and cassis fruit. Full-bodied, rich, and impressive, with sweet tannin as well as abundant wood, it will drink well for the next 15 years.
12 years old and holding up nicely. Dark complex fruit, coffee, tobacco nuances. Great buy on release, remains a great buy 12 years later.Compares nicely with wines 3 times release price.

A wonderful wine, with tons of deep dark flavors. Blackberries, smoke, and what I think of as BBQ beef all hit right up front. Didn't need much time to mellow, and really won the day alongside a couple other St. Francis cabs. Lots of cherry and dark fruit linger on the tongue, with a deep deep finish. Probably won't do anything special with more time, I would drink this now!

After some air this turned out to be not bad but not great either. still had some nice fruit but it appears to be beyond its peak. Tasted thin at times.
