An immense wine, dark, rich, earthy and leathery, with lots of complexity on a firmly tannic structure. Hints of leathery oak and chocolate permeate the core, but then the tannins shut down tightly. Patience required. 1,450 cases made.

The impressively saturated, dense ruby/purple color is promising, but the wine suffers from a boatload of astringent tannin. Behind the searing mouthfeel is dense, black currant, cherry fruit with tar, licorice and cedar notes. I suspect this wine is always going to be too tannic, and the fruit will ultimately dry out before anything ever comes into balance. Heed the word of a wise man, |If it tastes too tannic, it is too tannic.|
