1997 Château Grand Mayne

Deep ruby-red. Dark berries, mint and a peppery nuance on the nose. Supple and mouthfilling; the dark berry flavors are brightened by sound acidity. But turns a bit tart on the finish. Not too tannic, but could use more length.

The tell-tale dark ruby color, pronounced minerality, and pure black raspberry fruit are the hallmarks of most Grand-Mayne vintages. The 1997 possesses some tannin, but the overall impression is of an elegant, medium-bodied, slightly lighter than usual wine with sweet fruit, and the potential to drink well for 7-8 years.
