Dullish red. Strawberry jam and roasted oak on the nose. Thick, sweet and accessible, if somewhat overwhelmed by the oak element. Finishes with modest tannins.

The dark ruby/plum-colored 1997 Pinot Noir Estate (1,330 cases) could pass for a top Beaune premier cru. With sweet, chocolatey, smoky, black cherry fruit intermixed with spicy cinnamon and earthy scents, this sexy, hedonistic Pinot Noir fruit bomb is undeniably delicious and compelling.
