69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Shiraz.ÿPerfumed cassis, even a little herbal. Touch of eucalypt. Dense, with a fine sweet tannin grip. Slight herbal cassis flavour on the palate. A little warm at 14%. (The Grange 1996 is much more tarry and dark-scented with liquorice.) Tannins quite dry on retasting. (JH)

Deep ruby-red. Very ripe aromas of black cherry, raspberry and sweet American oak scents of bourbon and vanilla. Fat, sweet and mouthfilling; boasts plenty of body and texture but also possesses sound structure. Red berry flavor complicated by a note of menthol. Finishes with ripe tannins and very good length.

Fat and flavorful, This is a richly textured red wine that unfolds its ripe black cherry, blackberry and anise flavors like a thick quilt. Soft, warm and generous, with a sweet, supple finish.

Dark red, smooth, balanced, great structure, great length. Delicious, mocha, dark berries, vanilla flavours. Lovely wine. Can still keep but I don't think it'll develop any further.

Past its prime. Had one 4 yrs ago and it was awesome. 4 yrs later and the wine is dead. You can give it a try but don't have any great expectations.

Tannic with faded memories of the forward fruit on its release. Somewhat bitter and acid. Clearly a steak wine.
