Deeper ruby-red. Lively aromas of black cherry, spice, tar and grilled ham. Outstanding depth and sweetness of fruit, if less sharply delineated today than the Mouline. Comes across as quite oak-spicy on the aftertaste today; indeed, I found this wine rather dominated by the wood a year ago as well. Enticing brown spices and very lush tannins on the firm finish.

The 1996 Cote Rotie La Turque possesses a dark, saturated ruby/purple color, aromas of caramel, vanillin, and smoked cherry jam, medium to full body, outstanding ripeness, a plush, surprisingly soft finish, and loads of glycerin. This effort should be drunk over the next 12-15 years.

Very complex. With its plum, mocha and dark chocolate and clean, fresh black currant, there is plenty to like in this full-bodied, heavily oaked Rh“ne red. Maintains a clean, sharp acidity that lingers on the finish.

explodes oout of the glass, for an off vintage this is a stellar effort. Loads of raspberry and tobacco on the nose with leathery red and dark fruit in the palate an d a sharp white pepper finish....good juice

Marcel Guigal - the so-called "pivot" of the Cote-Rotie appellation - is both an owner and negociant, and vinifies over 40% of all Cote-Rotie. His father, Etienne, started out quite modestly in 1946, and over the next decades the company has grown to encompass all that is best in the Rhone Valley. Not only known for the massive hits in Hermitage and Cote-Rotie, the Guigal name is synonymous with quality all along the scale, from the humble Cotes-du-Rhone to the Big Three - La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque.
