Good full red. Complex, fruity aromas of dark cherry, plum, bitter chocolate and fresh herbs. Dense, sweet and impressively concentrated; perfectly integrated acids keep the flavors lively and shapely. Finishes with fine tannins and excellent persistence. Impressive basic Barolo.

The 1996 Barolo exhibits a saturated, not very evolved dark ruby color. It reveals notes of sur-maturite in its ripe, fruity style. The 1996 is broodingly backward, spicy, rich, and highly extracted.
