Ruby-red. Complex aromas of cassis, plum, black pepper, black olive and leather. Plush, pliant and seamless yet quite firm, with youthful flavors of cassis, plum and leather. Dense and solidly structured, with sound acidity. Finishes with dusty tannins and noteworthy persistence. Showing better than the bottle I tasted last year.

This proprietary red wine is a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot, and 2% Malbec. A complex nose of cedar, black fruits, tobacco, spice box, and new wood emerges from this dark ruby/purple-colored effort. Rich and moderately tannic, with excellent to outstanding flavor extraction and overall balance, this 1996 should prove to be long-lived and satisfying. The texture is rich, not compressed or clipped, and the acidity, tannin, and alcohol are well-integrated.
Deep, dark black-cherry color, big nose with notes of dark fruits and a bit of leather, very round on palate, well balanced fruit with soft tannins but still has plenty of structure, nice truffle notes mid-palate, long finish. I think I opened this at just the right time, the best bottle I've pulled out of my cellar in a while!

Nice wine but a bit heavy. Had with a filet on a monsoony May day, Ellen's second headache free day after a bad string so a nice celebration
