  • Wine Advocate | Rating: 86

A dark, thick-looking ruby color is followed by attractive, moderately intense aromas of earth, licorice, and black fruits. The wine is monolithic, with medium body, sweet plum, black cherry and cassis fruit on the attack, yet a compressed, tannic finish. Given the vineyard source, owner, and resources available, this offering is uninspiring.

  • Wine Spectator | Rating: 90

Aging well, with a complex band of currant, blackberry and cherry fruit that's well-centered and deftly balanced, with just the right amount of tannins and acidity.--1995 California Cabernet retrospective. 4,565 cases made.

  • The Rubicon Estate Winery (formerly Niebaum-Coppola Winery and Inglenook Winery) is located in Rutherford, California in the heart of Napa Valley. The winery sits on a portion of the historic Napa property first acquired in 1879 by Finnish Sea Captain Gustave Niebaum, founder of the Inglenook Winery.

In 1975, Francis Ford Coppola and his wife Eleanor purchased Niebaum's Victorian home, along with 120 acres of surrounding vineyards. In 1995, Coppola reunited the two original Inglenook parcels by purchasing the grand Inglenook chateau and surrounding vineyards (neighboring vineyards now include Heitz Wine Cellars Martha's Vineyard and Beaulieu Vineyard Georges de Latour). The winery underwent a name change in early 2006, and is now known as Rubicon Estate.
