  • Wine Spectator | Rating: 92

A big, ripe and firmly tannic style, dense, chunky and chewy, but wade past the tannins and you'll get a glimpse of a complex, concentrated wine. Definitely needs time. 1,300 cases made.

  • International Wine Cellar | Rating: 92

Deep ruby-red. Distinctive aromas of raw crushed blackberry and game. Powerful, dense and solidly structured, but already displays a compelling, sappy sweetness. This makes the above wine seem downright polite. Finishes with major tannins but here the tannins seem sweeter.

  • Jancis Robinson | Rating: 16

Relatively tough mountain fruit is still tightly furled. Less glamorous and appealing than the 1997 below.

The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder (1,600 cases) reveals an opaque purple color, and a sumptuous, Medoc-like nose of lead pencil, minerals, black currants, and smoky oak. It is extremely full-bodied and massive in the mouth, with sweet tannin, a layered, plushly-textured mid-palate, and a firm, exceptionally long, pure finish. This classic mountain-styled Cabernet Sauvignon can be drunk now, but it will be even better with 5-7 years of cellaring. It will keep for 2 decades.

Still has time. Lots of tannins but very driknable now.

Lokoya wines are identified with the terroir of Napa's mountain vineyards. Sparse soils, high elevations, good drainage, and the cool climates of the mountains and benches form the backbone for intense Cabernet Sauvignons.

Lokoya's goal is to choose sites, lots, and rows of vines that express the terroir and identity of their location through their wines.
