Jancis Robinson | Rating: 17Much deeper crimson than the regular cuvee. Thick and opulent on the nose - almost unrecognisable as from this part of the Medoc! Sweet start and very flattering. Nice freshness on the finish reassures one that local character has not been lost. Quite thick tannins though. Much sweeter than the regular bottling.Author: Jancis Robinson
JamesSuckling.com | Rating: 91A juicy red with lots of dark fruits and a light wet earth character as well as mushrooms, leafs. Full body, chewy tannins and a fresh finish. I like the hints of new wood. A special barrel selection from Sociando Mallet. Drink or hold.Author: James Suckling
Wine Spectator | Rating: 91Fully mature, with softening cedar and bay leaf notes lining the core of dried red currant and blackberry fruit flavors. The supple finish lets espresso and loam details flicker through the background, while an echo of scorched earth lends grip.Author: James Molesworth
Located in the southwest of France, Bordeaux is the single largest fine-wine-producing region in the world, with more than 15,000 growers spread over 57 appellations and more than 700 million bottles produced annually. The region boasts a two-thousand-year winemaking history and some of the wine world's most recognized and highly sought-after names. Red Bordeaux blends comprise eighty percent of production, but dry and sweet whites are also well-known. The region is divided into the Left and Right Banks (of the Dordogne River); Cabernet Sauvignon prevails in the former and Merlot in the latter.
