Deep, ripe and rich on the nose with a touch of warm minerality. Sweet start then lots of tannin and acidity. There?s much more fruit here than in the 1989 but I wouldn'tmind a little more. More developed than a 1994 bordeaux would be. A little hot on the finish. Still some firm chew on the finish. A little drying.

Firm, tight and tannic, with a chewy edge to the earthy currant and black cherry flavors. Picks up pretty coffee and cedar notes on the aftertaste. Best to hold this dense, compact wine until 2001 or after. 4,000 cases made.

There are approximately 4,000 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon made by Staglin. The 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon is a graceful, vanillin-scented, medium to full-bodied wine that emphasizes Cabernet's red fruit character. It is pure and well-balanced, with moderate tannin in the attractive, Bordeaux-like finish. This 50-acre estate features Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon.

    Closed down and disappointing.

Situated at the base of the Mayacamas Range on the Rutherford Bench, this sixty-one acre property has ideal soils, microclimate and location. The estate's potential was recognized by some of the first Napa Valley settlers and was planted to vineyards in the mid 1860's. Today the certified organic estate is home to the Staglins, fifty-one acres of vines, an underground winery, the historic homestead and a solar array.

Staglin is undoubtedly within the top tier of California Cabernet producers. In addition to the flagship Staglin Family Vineyard label, they also produce a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Chardonnay under the Salus label.
