The glories of this estate remain its Cabernet Sauvignons. After retasting the 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon, I was even more impressed. Made from low yields of approximately 2 tons of fruit per acre, from Seavey's east-facing hillside vineyards in the Conn Valley, the 1994 exhibits an opaque purple color, and an exuberant yet still young and unformed nose of spice, black fruits, and cedar. Full-bodied, with layers of dense, ripe fruit, this rich, full-bodied, moderately tannic wine should be at its best in 3-5 years.

Tough and chewy, with an earthy edge to the currant, herb, tobacco flavors. With aeration, it opens up to reveal more complexity and depth, finishing with a nice interplay of flavors.

  • The flagship offering from Seavey is their Cabernet Sauvignon known for its classic Bordeaux styling, richness, and longevity, with some vintages achieving 30-40 years of cellaring potential. This wine is built for strength and ageability, with long macerations and three years of barrel and bottle aging prior to release.

Seavey wines are very well-received by critics and fans alike, and since the inaugural 1990 vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, all Seavey Vineyard grapes are used exclusively for the estate produced wines.
