Elegant and graceful, with pretty cherry, currant and plummy Cabernet fruit and touches of anise and herb. Deftly balanced, with enough firmness in the tannins to merit short-term cellaring.--1993 California Cabernet retrospective. 11,900 cases made.

A weak survival, perhaps a less than perfect bottle; the 1967 version in the same tasting was much better!! Nothing to write about, would be readily drinkable on its own and no need to wait any longer

Fathers Day with friends we ooen a few nice wines. BV 93 - Was slighly brown on edge, flavors were nice, suttle. The Hall 07 Cab was significantly different in flavor. Good color plently of life left in the bottle in caparison. The Phelps 06 merlot was a good in between, had oak and good flavor drinking at it's best right now. We finished with the Pride Cabernet which was the best of all. Everything on par. Very enjoyable.

I had this wine a month ago and was not impressed by it. However, I had this second bottle with prime ribs and steak and the pairing was very nice. Decanting it for an hour before consumption did not hurt either. After decanting, the wine exhibits the following character: - Nose: Intense cherry and casis, mixing with a very nice balance of oak and clove. - deep garnet in color with low rim variation, long leg - Palate: First tasting bright cherry and casis, with vanilla in the middle and finishing up with a hint of clove. - Finish: 15-20 second.

In 1900, when Georges de Latour's wife, Fernande, first laid eyes on the land that would become their original Rutherford vineyard, she named it "beau lieu," or "beautiful place." Shortly thereafter, de Latour sold his thriving cream of tartar business, bought the four-acre ranch and founded Beaulieu Vineyard with the vision of making Napa Valley wines that would rival those of his native France.Today the winery continues to turn to innovative practices to craft wines in a bold, classic style. They have become a leader in clonal research, and the BV Clone Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon wines are highly acclaimed. Most recently a new state-of-the-art winery was completed within one of the original buildings. The Georges de Latour Private Reserve Winery utilizes the latest technology in combination with time-honored traditions for the production of this exceptional, wine-the longtime benchmark of Rutherford Cabernet.
