Burghound | Rating: 92Also a wine I've had numerous times since release and this was consistent with prior impressions with its now deep golden color and expressive and open powerful mineral and fruit aromas laced with ample amounts of new oak. The flavors are equally big, rich and powerful with plenty of fat to buffer the moderate acidity. The Leroy Corton-Charlemagne normally offers better detail than this but there is no doubting the concentration, seve and superb density and one could drink this now or continue to hold. In sum, this is not exactly classic in style but impressive nonetheless.Author: Allen Meadows
"Domaine Leroy is a welcome reminder of the difference between the very good and the great." - Michel Bettane, Vins de France
Created in 1988 with the purchase of the 12-hectare Domaine Charles Noëllat in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Leroy has become one of the most impressive and vaunted properties in Burgundy. Cultivation follows strict biodynamic parameters and the combination of old vine preservation and ultra-low yields produces fruit of unrivaled excellence. The resultant wines are masterpieces of purity, intensity and layered subtlety enhanced by an uncommonly statuesque concentration. The spectacular reviews that these wines consistently receive attest to their incredible and solid quality—they are a lynchpin in any Burgundy enthusiast's collection.
