(4.7 g/l total acidity; 13% alcohol): Dark ruby-red with a garnet edge. Initially inexpressive nose opens with aeration to reveal aromas of red fruits, flowers, tar and minerals. Sweet on entry, with flavors of red cherry syrup, vanilla and milk chocolate, then develops a delicate animal nuance with air. The long finish features persistent notes of tobacco and kirsch. Typically seductive Lynch-Bages, and quite opulent in texture.Author: Ian D'AgataIssue: January/February 2012Wine Spectator | Rating: 93
Fine and silky wine, with lots of finesse and structure. Long and racy. Age this for as long as you like. '89/'90 Bordeaux non-blind horizontal.Author: James SucklingJancis Robinson | Rating: 17
For me, 1990 won't get any better. Sylvie Cazes-Regimbeau.Leather and licorice, with baked black fruit and cedarwood, chocolate and perhaps fresh sap too. A phenomenal layered flavour, showing espresso then chocolate then hot spice then blackcurrant and with an underlying lightly floral aromatic persistence. The tannin is really excellent, grainy and tactile, and supports the very lengthy finish perfectly. Very good indeed. ÿ(RH)Author: Richard HemmingWine Advocate | Rating: 99
This magnificent Lynch Bages has been drinking well since the day it was released and it continues to go from strength to strength. The biggest, richest, fullest-bodied Lynch Bages until the 2000, the fully mature 1990 exhibits an unbelievably explosive nose of black currants, cedarwood, herbs and spice. The majestic, classically Bordeaux aromatics are followed by a full-bodied, voluptuously textured, rich, intense wine with superb purity as well as thrilling levels of fruit, glycerin and sweetness. This beauty should continue to provide immense pleasure over the next 15+ years.Author: Robert Parker

Appears |thin| in the glass, soft Bordeaux nose but opens up its aroma after about 45| to a much more classical nose. At first, strong floral overtones on the palate with lavender and rose that persist but then give way to spice; cinnamon and peppery dark berries with a 30 second finish. Good structure, tannins are a plenty.Drink Dates: 2008-2016Author: Pierre T184Self | Rating: 93

Wow. Dark fruit, casis and cedar come together fabulously in this classic Paulliac wine. I have tasted this wine over the last five years and find it now at it's peak. Drink over the next five years.Drink Dates: 2000-2015Author: Conrad K
Located just outside the town of Pauillac, Chateau Lynch Bages is famous for its Cabernet-based wines, which typify the best of the appellation. The estate is classified as one of eighteen Fifth Growths from the official 1855 classification; many experts, though, would argue that its quality merits it a place among the Second Growths. Typical Lynch-Bages reveals a wonderful bouquet, rich tannins, a long finish, and softness and complexity with age. From its founding in the 1600s, the chateau was owned by many generations of the Lynch family, and in the 1930s, was purchased by the Cazes family, who continue operations today. The finest vintages over the last fifty years include 1961, 1982, 1989, 1990, 1996 and 2000. In addition to its flagship red, Chateau Lynch Bages also produces a white wine and a second label called Haut Bages Averous.
