Rating: 92Insiders have long known that one of the treasures of the Leroy portfolio is the Savigny Les Beaune-Les Narbantons. Consistently the finest wine made in that appellation, it achieves grand cru quality because of its extraordinary richness and multidimensional character. The 1990 is awesome. The forceful bouquet, which is just beginning to form, soars from the glass, offering up aromas of minerals, toasty oak, and gobs of black fruit. In the mouth, there is magnificent richness, medium to full-body, and a layered, multi-dimensional, chewy texture that goes on and on. The moderate tannins are nearly obscured by the wine's sweet concentration of fruit.Author: Robert Parker
Rating: 92Big, well-crafted and muscular, lacking in finesse what it makes up in power, with loads of new oak and tannins and plenty of roasted coconut, vanilla and raspberry flavors.
"Domaine Leroy is a welcome reminder of the difference between the very good and the great." - Michel Bettane, Vins de France
Created in 1988 with the purchase of the 12-hectare Domaine Charles Noëllat in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Leroy has become one of the most impressive and vaunted properties in Burgundy. Cultivation follows strict biodynamic parameters and the combination of old vine preservation and ultra-low yields produces fruit of unrivaled excellence. The resultant wines are masterpieces of purity, intensity and layered subtlety enhanced by an uncommonly statuesque concentration. The spectacular reviews that these wines consistently receive attest to their incredible and solid quality—they are a lynchpin in any Burgundy enthusiast's collection.
