1989 Domaine Ostertag Pinot Gris Muenchberg VT Grand Cru
- No professional reviews available
Located in northeast corner of France along the German border, Alsace's unique hybrid culture is mirrored in its wine, influenced by both French and German styles. In fact, Alsace is the only region in France that allows the traditional German grape Riesling to be grown legally. Located in the rain shadow from the Vosges mountains, this sixty mile strip of land has a cold continental climate and has one of France's lowest levels of rainfall. Most wine is labeled Appellation Alsace Controlee with the best vineyards granted Alsace Grand Cru status. The majority of Alsatian wine is white and grand cru vineyards are restricted to growing Gewürztraminer, Muscat, Pinot Gris, and Riesling.
