($65) Pale orange-red color, greeny-gold at the rim. Knockout ethereal nose combines strawberry, minerals, maple syrup, black toffee, truffle and autumn leaves. Juicy, pungent, precise and minerally; a Chambolle style of Rioja, weightless in the best possible way. Dry, brisk and fresh, with penetrating cherry fruit. This will get your salivary glands working. Finishes bright, subtle and long, with easygoing, perfectly integrated tannins and a whiplash of flavor. (Think Global, Santa Barbara, CA)

Fully mature, possibly fading, this supple red shows dried cherry, leather and spice notes, silky on the palate but a bit dry on the finish. Traditional style. Drink now. 1,500 cases made.

Amazing. Rich, deep, and both earthy and elegant. Perfect expression of traditional Rioja.

For over one hundred and thirty years, three generations of the Lopez de Heredia family have devoted themselves to producing exceptional and unique wines.

Vina Tondonia is the bodega's most famous vineyard and product. Tondonia is a beautiful vineyard of over 100 hectares, situated on the right bank of the river Ebro, where the most typical Rioja wines are grown. Apart from Tondonia, Lopez de Heredia owns three more vineyards, all of which are also set in the Rioja Alta region. These are the "Vina Cubillo," "Vina Bosconia" and "Vina Zaconia."

The estate uses typical Rioja varieties: Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo for reds, and Viura and Malvasia for whites. Vineyard care, a scrupulous selection of grapes, aging in oak barrels in the heart of deep underground galleries, and further aging in bottles, all contribute to making these illustrious wines with their exceptional bouquet.
