Foxy red with some evolution. Putty and round and sweet on the nose. Beguiling and fresh but a little spindly. Definite dry finish but no excess of tannin. Already quite pretty.

Taylor is always closed and tight when young and this is no exception. Deep ruby-purple, ripe raisin and violet aromas, full-bodied, with sweet raisin and grape flavors, a lovely balance of full tannins and an explosion of fruit on the finish.

This house must certainly be the Latour of Portugal. Their ports are remarkably backward yet still impressive when young. Of all the vintage ports, those of Taylor need the longest time to mature and even when fully mature seem to have an inner strength and firmness that keep them going for decades. Their tawnys are also among the very best, though somewhat expensive. The 1983 is wonderfully aromatic and so perfumed (a characteristic of this charming vintage), yet powerful, long and deep on the palate.

Light red/deep rose robe; sweet and rich on the palate but not cloying; lovely; drink up

Pale ruby. Developed, complex aromas of red and black fruit, earth, and spices. Fully mature, tannins barely perceptible, seemingly endless length. A great bottle of port.

The 300-year-old estate, home to some of world's finest Port, is located high up in the Duoro region of Oporto, Portugal. Relatives of the estate's original owners still control the vineyards today. Referred to as the "Latour of Port," Taylor's has been known for centuries as the premier shipper of superior Vintage Ports, Tawny Ports, and its signature Late Bottled Vintage Ports. Both the '92 and '94 vintages received 100 points from Wine Spectator, while the '94 also came in as the top wine of its year.
