Beautiful notes of dried herbs, new saddle leather, roasted nuts, black currants, and jammy cherries jump from the glass of this spicy, fragrant 1982. Medium to full-bodied and fleshy, it is the finest La Lagune produced in the last thirty years. Just reaching its plateau of maturity, it appears to have the balance and depth to age effortlessly for 10 more years.

Intense cassis nose. Extremely classic, delicate nose - not at all over the top, just extremely elegant with some mineral notes. Great nose, Initially it seemed a little lean on the palate but with time it opened up to something gloriously sweet and broad. When we returned to this wine at the end of dinner, even after the magnificent La Mission, it was still captivating. Something featherlight and Lafite-like about it. What a bargain for those who bought it en primeur. (Alas I bought the 1983 which is similarly elegant but fading now.)

Very dark garnet-red, with an inky center. Ripe berry and tobacco aromas. Medium- to full-bodied, with tobacco, raspberry and light toasted oak flavors. Silky finish. Outstanding, if not quite as impressive as I anticipated.--1982 Bordeaux horizontal. Drink now.

Unquestionably the greatest La Lagune until the 2005 was conceived, the 1982 exhibits a dense ruby/purple-tinged color along with a big, sweet bouquet of black cherries, licorice, smoky toast, and forest floor, a plush, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, and sweet tannin. It is close to full maturity, and should keep for another decade.

Dark red with little rim variation. Absolutely no sign of oxidation! Hints of cherry, berry, dried fruits and leather on the nose. Medium bodied, smooth texture, with a long finish. Greatly reduced tannins, but they are still there along with acid notes for a silky and velvety finish. I agree with others--this wine is still drinking well. It has great fruit given its age, and may still have another couple of years left. A classic Bordeaux.

Drank it at Olivetto with the Bermans. Quite a nice bottle for the money. Great balance, with acidity and sofness, and unmistakable old bordeaux mustiness. Great classy food wine with a nice price point.

I served my second bottle of this with duck risotto at a dinner party on 10/26/08. It had, unfortunately, turned bad. It was a little vinegary and lost most of its aroma and flavor. I consider this bottle flawed and will not rate it.

Unbelievably good, strong leather upon open that wafted into soft, velvety texture
