FRANCE / RHÔNE / CÔTE-RÔTIE

A bit dull on the nose. 1981 much better in C“te R“tie than in Hermitage but this lacks core. Nice try. Bit simple and hot on the finish. OK for drinking now but quite dry at the end. [drink date should be 1994-99, system glitch!]Author: Jancis RobinsonWine Spectator | Rating: 88
Bright and balanced, this shows spicy, cedary notes, fresh cherry flavor, and a long, graceful finish.Author: Thomas Matthews
Marcel Guigal - the so-called "pivot" of the Cote-Rotie appellation - is both an owner and negociant, and vinifies over 40% of all Cote-Rotie. His father, Etienne, started out quite modestly in 1946, and over the next decades the company has grown to encompass all that is best in the Rhone Valley. Not only known for the massive hits in Hermitage and Cote-Rotie, the Guigal name is synonymous with quality all along the scale, from the humble Cotes-du-Rhone to the Big Three - La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque.
