A solid vintage Port from an unsung vintage. Medium ruby, with clean perfume and black cherry aromas, full-bodied, with silky, sweet concentrated berry flavors and a medium finish.

Buying Guide - 2nd Edition (1989) | Rating: 88
This house makes rather restrained yet rich, flavorful vintage port and a very good tawny called Nimrod. Their vintage ports seem slow to develop, and while they never quite have the voluptuous richness of a Dow, Graham, or Fonseca, they have a unique mineral-scented character that gives them their own complexity and style. The 1980 is backward, firm, and has yet to reveal its true personality.

Very youthful crimson with extraordinarily little development. Light and tarry nose. Some rather disconcertingly green, almost malic notes on the nose. Not classic, a bit edgy and uncomfortable. Very chewy finish but not first class.
