A solid vintage Port from an unsung vintage. Medium ruby, with clean perfume and black cherry aromas, full-bodied, with silky, sweet concentrated berry flavors and a medium finish.Author: James SucklingBuying Guide - 2nd Edition (1989) | Rating: 88
This house makes rather restrained yet rich, flavorful vintage port and a very good tawny called Nimrod. Their vintage ports seem slow to develop, and while they never quite have the voluptuous richness of a Dow, Graham, or Fonseca, they have a unique mineral-scented character that gives them their own complexity and style. The 1980 is backward, firm, and has yet to reveal its true personality.Author: Robert ParkerJancis Robinson | Rating: 16
Very youthful crimson with extraordinarily little development. Light and tarry nose. Some rather disconcertingly green, almost malic notes on the nose. Not classic, a bit edgy and uncomfortable. Very chewy finish but not first class.Author: Jancis Robinson
