1977 Weinert Malbec
ARGENTINA / MENDOZA /
International Wine Cellar | Rating: 89
Medium red. Decadent aromas of milk chocolate, leather, fruit cake and damp earth; distinct hint of maderization. Then lush and superripe in the mouth, with sweet flavors of chocolate, leather, earth and tobacco. This still retains impressive fruit and middle-palate texture. Finishes with smooth, thoroughly resolved tannins and Graves-like notes of iron, leather, tobacco and hot bricks. The slightly less rustic and more modern-style '94 may well age like this bottle-or it may ultimately surpass it.Author: Stephen TanzerIssue: March/April 2000
