An interesting nose of cherry, raspberry and distinct earth and underbrush nuances sit atop round and surprisingly accessible flavors that possess the most complexity of any wine in the range. This is full-bodied and relatively powerful delivering solid length but overall, this is very good rather than special for a vintage like 2005.

Fresh, focused and complex, from the licorice- and blackberry-scented nose to the damson and black currant flavors. Throw in a little spice and mineral and voilà. It's all balanced and has plenty of sweet fruit to match the rearguard of tannins. 500 cases made.
Domaine Chevalier was first created by Emile Dubois in 1850. His daughter and son in law inherited the estate just after the First World War. When their son Georges took over and acquired a parcel of Corton-Charlemagne. Claude, George's son, started working at the family Domaine in 1973 at the age of 16. In 1994, Claude took over the vinification. In 2000, Claude made a radical change - he hired the well know Greek oenologist, Kyrakos Kynigopoulos, aka “the vineyard magician”.
Claude's wines reflect the four generations of expertise and meticulousness that has gone into the maintenance of his family vineyards. From the Domaine's total holding of 37 acres, Claude makes 14 village and 1er cru wines: Ladoix, Aloxe Corton, Gevrey-Chambertin, Cotes de Nuits Villages, as well as Grand Cru Corton Rognet, and Grand Cru Corton-Charlemagne. Claude presides over the Confederation of Burgundian appellations and vignerons.
