Seems very rich at first, with blood orange, persimmon and ginger notes, but then the fine minerality takes over, carrying it to a long elegant finish thanks to its rapierlike acidity. Each sip makes you want another. 250 cases made.

Producer Notes

Interestingly enough, Philippe Delesvaux does not come from a viticulture background. He is actually Parisian, but was introduced to vineyards as a farm manager in Anjou, where he spent more time on cereal crops and livestock. His vineyard purchasing began in earnest in the mid-1980s and soon he was crafting flawless and incomparable renditions of the versatile Chenin Blanc. The domaine covers 35 acres, with prestigious holdings in the Coteaux du Layon appellation. Delesvaux is meticulous in his commitment to quality natural winemaking: the winery is certified biodynamic, all harvesting and sorting is done by hand, and every bottle and cork is tested. The Selection des Grains Noble (SGN) offerings are amongst the best of the appellation and have thrust Delesvaux into the limelight of the Loire elite.
