Outstanding
(a 3.5 ha monopole with 30+ year old vines) A relatively elegant and surprisingly high-toned red pinot fruit nose is in keeping with the brooding, intense and vibrant medium full-bodied flavors that finish with a certain chewiness and moderate amounts of this wine's hallmark youthful austerity.

($85) Good deep red with ruby highlights. Highly aromatic, complex nose combines medicinal black cherry, game and leather. Creamy on entry, then ripe and tactile in the middle, with lovely spicy lift. A chewy wine with no easy sweetness. Finishes with building tannins and notes of wild plum, iron and minerals.

Very bright focused sharp bitter-cherry nose with real verve and direction. For the long term. Real tension. Though the oak is slightly overdone. It went downhill in the glass.

Deep ruby core that was surprisingly dark for Pinot. On the nose I detect notes of tobacco, floral fruit, and dusty dirt. This wine has lots of density, structure and high acid. The "chewy" red-blue fruits include black cherry and plum. The finish is powerful, dominated by substantial ripe tannins. An intense, brooding wine that will benefit from several years of bottle age to soften. I'm curious to see how this wine develops over the next five years. A great candidate for investment.
