2006
Lequin-Colin, Rene - Nuits St Georges Les Brulees 1er Cru
This burgandy started out really tight and wound up. I drank one glass per night for three nights and my patience paid off. The expression of pinot was prime with the floral notes mineral backbone and sweet cherry flavors in an elegant package.
2005
Arroyo, Vincent - Entrada
unique blend of cab, syrah, and some other grapes. Very average and quite expensive. The aromas were nothing special and the wine was not structured or balanced. It was singular with dark cherry flavors and disappointing finish
2005
Veraison - Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach Vineyard
Had for my birthday at ruth chris. It was a gamble since I hadn't had it before but it turned out pretty good. It was hot on opening and really needed an hour of decanting but over the course of dinner the cherry pie flavors really came out. Ruby red on the glass, medium weight and very sophisticated. Some mint and graphite notes on the palate. The finish smoothed out after some time and I really noticed some vanilla oak components. Very well done.
2002
Roederer, Louis - Cristal
Had for new years. Very young still but the aromas were great with perfumed flowers and sweet apples. On the palate it was not your typical yeasty champagne, it was all so focused and integrated. Smooth with slight acidity. Not worth the price though!! Still a good champagne but I can find better for 40 bucks
