2004
Petaluma - Chardonnay Picadilly Valley
Lovely glossy deep lemon yellow. Fragrant with sweet lemon-barley and delicate oaking. Rich, round palate with butterscotch, lemon and creamy crushed banana; a little spicyness in the finish. The good acidity balances the rich flavours.
2007
Rodet, Antonin - Bourgogne
Clear, light ruby red. Sharp sour cherry on the nose. Lean and light with refreshing crisp acidity; red berries on the palate and a slightly metallic flavour in the back of the mouth.
2003
Bessane
Double decanted a few hours before drinking. Ruby red. Soft, round nose with gentle blackcurrant aromas, graphite and a hint of leather. Light on the entry, spicy midpalate, with smoke and cream on the finish. Unfortunately the bitter tannins make the wine slightly unpleasant.
2006
Binder, Rolf - Shiraz Hales
Cloudy dark garnet right to the rim. Delicate, perfumed nose with blueberry and plums. Soft and round with sweet black berry fruits and cedar wood. Reveals unpleasant metallic and burnt rubber flavours in the finish.
NV
Dow's - Midnight Port
Ruby red with a dark core. Plummy nose with red berries and overt alcohol aromas. The palate is sweet and fruity with vanilla and a hint of orange peel. Unfortunately, it is also light, watery and dominated by the alcohol.
