2001
Marques de Caceres - Crianza Vendimia Seleccionada
Medium ruby in the glass with brownish-brick color emerging at the rim, this wine has a wonderfully aromatic nose of chocolate, nutmeg, roasted figs, and cedar. In the mouth the wine has a wonderful seamlessness to it, with silky powdery tannins that seem to sit in a cloud around flavors of brown sugar, cedar, prunes and pencil lead. The moderate finish offers scents of melted brown sugar.

Blackbird - Arriviste
Bright, light baby pink in the glass, this wine smells of alpine strawberries and a nice stony aroma. In the mouth it is nicely dry with flavors of strawberry and cherry. The wine has just a little less edge than I like in my rose, but is quite pleasing nonetheless.
2006
Martin Codax - Tempranillo Ergo
Medium garnet in color, this wine has a nose of black cherry and molasses aromas. In the mouth it offers dark cassis and black cherry flavors with decent acidity and nicely restrained wood, but not a lot of complexity. Ends up coming off a little flat, despite being tasty.
2005
Grgich Hills - Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Dark garnet in the glass, this wine smells of black cherry, black olives, and cassis. In the mouth it is smooth and velvety, with soft, mouth-coating tannins that wrap around flavors of black cherry, plum, and cassis that linger nicely into the finish.

Helfrich - Gewurztraminer Steinklotz
Pale gold in the glass, this wine has a nose of rose petals and baked apples. In the mouth it has a nice balance and strong flavors of roses, honeydew melon, and…. Roses. With a capital R. Quite pleasant, bordering on delicious, but a little too…rosy to really be profound.
