Steve Bachmann's profile

Steve Bachmann
Steve Bachmann
San Francisco, CA
Steve Bachmann began collecting wine in the early '90s, fueled in part by a move to London, where he had the chance to experience a wider variety of European wines. He founded Vinfolio in 2003, as a solution to the common frustration of managing a nearly 7,000-bottle collection. Steve's background as managing director of Broadview Holdings LLP, where he advised on technology mergers and acquisitions in the US and Europe for 13 years, has served him well in his current role as Vinfolio's CEO. Steve holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Princeton and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a board member of the Specialty Wine Retailers Association, a member of the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin and a Trustee of the Town School for Boys in San Francisco.

RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication". It is a way to easily distribute a list of headlines, update notices, and sometimes inventory changes to a wide number of people. Think of it as a one-stop shop for all the stuff you want to read online. For the consumer, an aggregator or reader, either web-based or installed on your computer, ties it all together.

To make use of this information, you have to download and install an RSS feed reader like SharpReader. Every so often, the aggregator checks the RSS feeds you selected. 2005 Favia - Pinot Noir La Josefina

1993 Dujac - Clos St Denis
Despite a bottle which seemed to be in some bad shape (from its exterior scuffs and dirt), the wine was perfect. Great fruit, fine resolved tannins, balanced with long finish.

2004 Spinetta - Barbaresco Gallina
Red brick color, modest nose but flavor explosion on palate. Long finish that seems to build and peak at 10-15 seconds. Little tannic, bit rough/earthy, medium to light weight. Lip-smacking good. I might wait a few more years to try the next bottle to see if the tannins soften a bit.

2003 Ambroise, Bertrand - Corton Le Rognet
Balanced, sweet red fruit, soft smooth tastes, long finish. Surprised a bit by how well it was drinking already as most Cortons can take forever to mature. Had with Thanksgiving turkey; good match.

2005 Gobelsburg, Schloss - Gruner Veltliner Renner
Pale yellow, lemon tart flavors (and on the nose), reminds me a bit of a Korean pear I had today, nice Gruner spiciness, 20-25 second finish, classic high acidity. Solid wine.
