2008
Perrot-Minot (Domaine) - Gevrey-Chambertin
First nose of cola nut, smoke, earth and red currant, forest strawberries and a hint of tart cherry. Palate is lean with easy tannin and notes of cherry and earth. Good acidity so best with food - pate or rillettes.
2008
Dujac - Morey St-Denis
An interesting nose of earth, red currant, cherry (queue de cerise), floral (violets). Medium bodied with some black pepper notes; good acidity and a firm, if stemmy, finish.
2006
Marquis d'Angerville - Volnay Les Fremiets 1er Cru
An elegant and earthy nose of tobacco, spice and some muted red fruits; a familiar and welcome note of "pinot funk". Medium weight with some firm and slightly dry tannins, fruit is discreet so could use some time to work itself out.
2009
Leflaive (Domaine) - Puligny-Montrachet
First nose of honeysuckle flower, pear, lemon curd and some oak. Palate is medium to full bodied with the same floral and pear notes as well as a good mineral quality. The acidity is a bit firm so could do with another year of cellaring as well as to integrate the oak notes.
