Chateau La Tour Blanche looks out over Bommes, a charming small village in
Gironde, situated approximately 40 kilometres south of Bordeaux. The estate spreads over 70 hectares in the heart of the renowned Sauternes Appellation.
The actual vineyard is one single plot and covers 40 hectares. The remaining land is a combination of pine and poplar forests. At La Tour Blanche the vineyards are planted in the following proportions: 83% Semillon, 11.9% Sauvignon and 5.1% Muscadelle. Harvesting is done by a series of selective pickings which make take as many as 30 days over a period of 2 months to complete. Each vintage is vinified and aged in entirely new French-oak barrels, and the ageing in barrels lasts from 16-18 months. Annual production averages approximately 45,000 bottles. In accordance with Chateau La Tour Blanche's policy of exceptional quality, certain vintages (although certified passable) are deemed unworthy of being bottled and are therefore not produced. This was the case for the recent 1992, 1993 and 2000 vintages. Back to All Bordeaux Producers > |
