Flying Goat Cellars
Owner Norm Yost began making wines in the mid-'80s in Oregon, where his pair of pygmy goats kept his overflowing backyard of blackberry bushes in check. When he moved to Santa Barbara, the goats came along and in 2000 inspired the name of his new brand, Avoiding the pretension that so often overtakes the wine world, Yost balances serious quality and attention to detail in his winemaking with a sense of "fun, enjoyment, and happiness" in his "Mission of Merriment." Flying Goat specializes in vineyard designated, small production Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara.
