Breggo Cellars
Owners Doug and Ana Stewart took a meandering path to the world of winegrowing and making. He from a Sonoma farming family, but detoured through the world of teaching and even ice cream making, and she from Ecuador, pursuing eco-adventures and jobs. A search for "marginal" vineyard land lead them to Anderson Valley, where they purchased a 200-acre sheep ranch that has slowly developed into their estate vineyard. In addition to their estate wines, they contract fruit from some of the top properties in the Anderson Valley: Sauvignon Blanc and Gewurztraminer from Ferrington, Chardonnay from Savoy, and Pinot Gris from Wiley. Quality is high and production, supervised by Ryan Hodgins, who also consults for Hanzell, remains relatively low.
