Battle Creek
Battle Creek is one of a small group of vineyards retained following the sale of the major brand Columbia Winery to an international corporation in 2001. It is currently part of the Corus Estates & Vineyards brand. Production is supervised by winemaker Aron Hess, who worked with Lynn Penner-Ash at Rex Hill before becoming head of production at 12th & Maple Wine Company, a custom crush facility in Dundee, Oregon. Battle Creek Pinot Noir, produced from a 135-acre vineyard of the same name, is made at the 12th & Maple location. The Battle Creek Vineyard vines are incredibly low yielding, averaging less than 1 ton per acre, and production is in the 150-200 case range.
