2007 American Wine Blog Awards Winners Announced

GLEN ELLEN, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Following a two month process that saw more than 2,800 wine lovers vote for their favorite wine blogs in seven categories, winners of the first ever American Wine Blog Awards, were announced today at FERMENTATION: The Daily Wine Blog (http://www.fermentation.typepad.com).  The competition demonstrated that not only is there an immense wealth of talent behind wine blogs but that they have become an important source of wine information and entertainment for wine lovers across the globe.

Best Overall Wine Blog for 2007 was awarded to "Dr. Vino's Wine Blog," the creation of Tyler Coleman.  Coleman is a wine educator and writer whose blog illuminates issues of wine and politics, wine and culture, the wine business and wine education.  Dr. Vino's Wine Blog also won "Best Writing on a Wine Blog" at the 2007 American Wine Blog Awards.

"Tyler is a blogging powerhouse and the source of some of the best wine commentary on or off the Internet," said Tom Wark, founder of the American Wine Blog Awards.  "For an explanation as to why people are turning to wine blogs for their daily does of wine info just look to Tyler's blog."

After analyzing more than 600 nominations in the various categories a collection of judges produced four finalists for each category.  This was followed by a public vote for each award in which 2,846 people participated in choosing the winners.

"The winners in this year's American Wine Blog Awards demonstrate that wine lovers have a vibrant array of new sources to quench their intellectual thirst when it comes to wine," Wark said.  "A new set of players has arrived in the world of wine publishing …and they blog."
