Mature Vintage Champagne
The highlight of our recent acquisitions is an extensive champagne cellar, a rarity among American wine collectors. This unique collection of top tier champagnes was meticulously cared for from youth to full maturity, allowing you the rare chance to experience these exciting vintages in their prime.
The richness and depth of the 1982 Philipponnat Clos des Goisses is a revelation to lovers of mature champagne. Clos des Goisses, a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, is famous for gradually unfurling power and nobility in the bottle. Equally stunning is Billecart-Salmon's Brut Grand Cuvee, which garnered an unprecedented 95-point score from Richard Juhlin, who celebrated its "Dazzingly intense fruit with gobbets of youth." Not to be outdone, the stunning 1990 Dom Perignon Rose, rated 94 points by Juhlin, boasts "a greatness that no other wines can really match..."
2002 White Burgundy
Another highlight among our recent acquisitions is a cache of white Burgundy from the 2002 vintage, one of the loveliest in the past decade for these whites. Stephen Tanzer, in October 2003:
"A bulletin to white Burgundy collectors who have barely gotten their feet wet in recent vintages: with the arrival of the 2002s in the retail marketplace beginning this fall, now may be the time to dive in head first. ...From the start, the 2002s showed captivating sweetness and purity of fruit. Even where acid levels are technically no better than average, the wines show a compelling succulence...the better 2002s offer the best of both worlds: They boast the richness, sweetness of fruit and sheer palate impact that make chardonnay the world's most popular white grape. And they also possess the energy in the mouth and mineral underpinning that lift white Burgundy to a level above chardonnays grown elsewhere."
