How it works
It's simple, seamless and a buyer's and seller's delight.
- Sellers mark wine for sale – All you need is a VinCellar account to get started.
- Buyer places bid – Wine name, year, quantity, bottle size, and credit card details must be provided.
- Notification sent to all sellers – All sellers matching bid requirements are notified simultaneously.
- Sellers set filters to screen bids – Sellers may set alerts to only receive bids that meet their specified criteria.
- Sellers respond to bid – Sellers may respond in three ways
- Accept bid – First acceptance wins and ends the auction immediately; buyer's credit card is charged.
- Set asking price – Any seller may respond with an asking price (sent to all bidders) to signal an acceptable price which may, in turn, stimulate new bids.
- Ignore bid
- Seller sends wine to Vinfolio – If wine is not already in Vinfolio storage, seller must send wine to Vinfolio within 2 weeks or transaction is rescinded and seller is subject to cancellation fee.
- Vinfolio inspects wine – Wine must pass Vinfolio's inspection guidelines or transaction is fully or partially rescinded and Seller is subject to cancellation fee.
- Wine transferred to buyer – Title passes to buyer. Wine placed in Vinfolio storage where buyer can initiate a shipment, pick up or delivery upon demand.
- Vinfolio pays seller – Payment to seller made by check in next weekly payment cycle.
