Tips on placing a successful bid:
  • Research current retail and auction price data at www.wineprices.com to determine a fair and realistic bid price.
  • Consider that the seller is charged a 15% to 20% commission, as well as shipping (if the wine is not in Vinfolio storage).
  • Note the location from which you’d like your wine to be sourced. Wine in Vinfolio storage can usually be fulfilled more quickly upon bid acceptance.
  • Make sure the quantity you are bidding on is actually available in the Marketplace.
  • Remember, sellers are not obligated to sell their wine, but placing a fair and realistic bid will improve your chances of success.
1989 Haut Brion
“[Our dinner] was accompanied by the gloriously opulent, viscous, tour de force in winemaking, the 1989 Haut-Brion. This wine has been delicious from birth, yet shows no signs of age. It is a quasi-immortal classic that should continue to offer perfection for another two decades. It is the modern day version of Haut-Brion that comes closest to the renowned 1959.” - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

1997 Harlan Estate
“The 1997 Harlan Estate is one of the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines I have ever tasted…[an] enormously-endowed, profoundly rich wine [which] must be tasted to be believed. Opaque purple-colored, it boasts spectacular, soaring aromatics of vanilla, minerals, coffee, blackberries, licorice, and cassis… unreal richness and singular personality. The finish exceeds one minute.” - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

2003 Ermitage Le Pavillon
“A legend of the future is the 2003 Ermitage Le Pavillon…incredibly rich as well as awesomely well-delineated and fresh…intense nose of barbecue smoke, creme de cassis, blueberries, blackberries, and white flowers. The wine cascades over the palate with extraordinary richness, intensity, and silkiness. This seamlessly constructed Hermitage is, analytically, high in tannin, but extremely low in acidity, with a freaky accessibility (a vintage character). Prodigiously concentrated and high in extract, it should last for a half century or longer.” - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

Please note that the suggested bid price is based on what Vinfolio would charge for this wine if we were selling it in our online wine store. This is merely a recommended price on which to base your bid; it does not guarantee that your bid will be accepted. You are not required to submit this as your bid price, though we do recommend you read the "Tips on placing a successful bid" located on the right side of this email.
