Tips on placing a successful bid:
- Research current retail and auction price data at www.wineprices.com to determine a fair and realistic bid price.
- Consider that the seller is charged a 15% to 20% commission, as well as shipping (if the wine is not in Vinfolio storage).
- Note the location from which you’d like your wine to be sourced. Wine in Vinfolio storage can usually be fulfilled more quickly upon bid acceptance.
- Make sure the quantity you are bidding on is actually available in the Marketplace.
- Remember, sellers are not obligated to sell their wine, but placing a fair and realistic bid will improve your chances of success.

"The Shea Vineyard is probably the most famous terroir in Oregon and the list of clients who purchase fruit composes a Who's Who of Willamette Valley wineries and a couple from California as well. It is a large vineyard with numerous micro-terroirs. Furthermore, Dick Shea farms each plot according to the desires of the client so that it's probably not fair to make direct comparisons among the various Pinot Noirs made from Shea fruit. That is probably a good thing because Dick Shea has raised the bar significantly with the wines he has been making from his own vineyard." - Jay Miller, The Wine Advocate
Please note that the suggested bid price is based on what Vinfolio would charge for this wine if we were selling it in our online wine store. This is merely a recommended price on which to base your bid; it does not guarantee that your bid will be accepted. You are not required to submit this as your bid price, though we do recommend you read the "Tips on placing a successful bid" located on the right side of this email.

What is the Marketplace?
- The Vinfolio Marketplace is the world’s largest online fine wine source managed by Vinfolio.
- Over 40,000 wines available - learn how to find the wines you want.
- Private sellers mark their wines for sale in VinCellar, Vinfolio’s free online cellar management application, and can set an “asking price” and enable auto-accept of bids to ensure faster transactions (if wine is in Vinfolio storage).
- No advance physical transfer of wine is required prior to marking wine for sale.
- Wine sold from Vinfolio storage incurs a 15% seller’s commission vs. 20% from other locations.
- Buyers place bids on wines and there is no buyer’s premium.
- Vinfolio is the intermediary and all wines must pass our stringent inspection guidelines.
- After a bid is accepted, fulfillment averages about a week for wines in Vinfolio storage and 3-4 weeks for wines stored offsite.
