Hi
I'm new to VinCellar and made the first entries in the database. Great Software! But I didn't found a regular way to store links to wineries and wines. Nowadays a lot of wineries do have a homepage (like www.bastgen-weingut.de), where they're presenting themselves and the wines. I found a strange way for storing such links: I create a new Tasting Note, where I just write the link. But this isn't really a great way. So my change request: - A new field for the winery's homepage, which the users can fill out. - A new field for at least one link per wine. What do you think about this? Kind regards Björn Scheppler |

Thanks for your post. I would be interested to hear from others in terms of what sorts of 'user-generated' content they might be interested in.
Currently, we do maintain producer pages organized by Region. If available, producer notes for a wine will show on that wine's detail page in VinCellar. Your current solution is a good one for tracking notes for yourself in the interim. You can create multiple notes on a wine. You also have the option to mark individual notes private if you prefer not to share the content with the community. You can edit a note's privacy setting at any time by clicking the Edit button on a tasting note and unchecking the 'Make note public' box or by unchecking this box at the time you create the note. -------------------- Kristin Elmstrom

Thank you for your answer. I looked at the producer pages. They are great, if one owns well-known wines (in USA). We drink mainly niche products from Europe, and also neither Super-Tuscans nor the "great" bordeaux. So, therefore normally Vinfolio doesn't has such wines in the sortiment. But, as you mentioned, I think, the actual solution with 'tasting notes' does the job.
Kind regards |

I second melbjo's wish. I have intuitively been looking for a space where I can add notes and information about a wine that are not tasting notes - and/or an option to add links as melbjo suggests.

As a new user, I very much like the software program. However, I too would be interested in more flexibility with the producer notes, both in terms of adding personal customized information about that winery/vineyard, as well as adding a new producer/winery to "My Cellar" that is currently not listed in the producer pages. Not to draw any comparisons between software programs, but the program "Perfect Wine Version 2.03" (http://www.graphicalic.dk/perfectwine/index.html) has the ability to link a wine with a winery so that one can keep track of information associated with that winery (for example, website links or personal visits to the winery). I think the workaround proposed by melbjo only links the tasting notes with a particular wine, right? Thus, if one has several varietals from the same winery, the website or customized information for that winery is only listed for one of the wines.
If you're thinking of making any updates to the program, it would be great if you could consider this idea. Thanks! |

Great feedback! I will take a look at the wine - winery linking that you referred to. You are correct in that tasting notes are wine/year specific so that option would work for limited wines but not if you own multiple vintages and/or wines from the same winery.
A better solution that you might try out is a cool, new feature that we launched a couple weeks ago, WinePosts. WinePosts allows you to create your own personalized pages in VinCellar for the purpose of documenting wine-related topics including events, celebrations, travels, favorites, etc. In your WinePost you may include a description (including formatting and links), images, videos and a custom list of wines. Create WinePosts for the wineries that you are most interested in following. Update the WinePost at any time with new notes, links, etc. You can make your WinePost private or share it publicly for others to view and comment. Check out this Forum post for more information as well as other users' WinePosts here. I'd love to hear your feedback. -------------------- Kristin Elmstrom
