St. Estephe is the furthest north appellation of the Haut-Medoc, just down-river from the great estates of Pauillac, and it is home to two of the most famous 2nd Growths in all of Bordeaux - Chateau Cos d'Estournel, and Chateau Montrose.

Chateau Cos d'Estournel - Sitting on a ridge directly adjacent to the Pauillac border, Cos d'Estournel's vineyards look south towards its even more famous neighbor Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. According to Robert Parker, “...in most vintages [the estate] can be expected to produce one of the Medoc's finest wines,” and with respect to the 2003 vintage offered today, “...remarkable definition and elegance. It is the most impressive young Cos I have ever tasted.”

Chateau Montrose - Both Robert Parker and the venerable Michael Broadbent have said that they regard Montrose as, “the ‘Latour' of St. Estephe.” This is certainly high praise coming from two of the most Bordeaux-knowledgeable people on earth. Parker continues by stating that, “[in 2000 and 2003]...the wines are of first-growth quality.”

The bulk of today's offer is sourced from these outstanding years, and it includes the 2000 and 2003 vintages from each estate in their Original Wooden Cases (OWCs). These immaculate OWC's are all from a single private collection, and all have been stored under stable and exacting conditions since their release.
