($35) Good medium red. Dark cherry, spices, smoked meat, fresh herbs and brambly underbrush on the nose. Sweet, silky and fresh, with nuanced flavors of red berries, mocha, sassafras and earth; showed increasing definition as it opened in the glass. Finishes with rather soft tannins and a slight edge of acidity. . (South Pacific Wines, New York, NY)

Very grapey and fairly high alcohol. Oaky nose, but not overly oaky on the palette. Simple, straightforward, nice and easy to drink. Bits of cherry later in the glass.
