This relatively young, yet inordinately successful, domaine - founded in the early 1990s - has a tragic history. Just as Denis Mortet, and his acclaimed wines, were attaining their respective Burgundian apogees, M. Mortet took his own life (January 2006). Riper, gamier aromas of black raspberry and pungent oak spice. Thicker and more layered in the mouth, with notes of dark berries, roast coffee and smoked meat. Very long, sweet and rich on the finish, with substantial but lush tannins. Amazingly complete for a village wine.
