2006 Pra, Fratelli - Soave Classico Superiore Vigneto Monte Grande Garganega - Italy - Veneto - Soave Superiore - White

($26; a blend of 80% garganega and 20% trebbiano di Soave) Intense straw-yellow. Vibrant, ripe, almost tropical aromas of apple, papaya and passion fruit complicated by smoke and iodine. Purity of flavor and the combination of plump fruit and high acidity make this enjoyable already, but it really needs more time in bottle to harmonize fully; my score may eventually look conservative. Finishes moderately long, with a strong apple quality. This spent one year in large cask.

Offers intense apricot, persimmon and a light cedar character. Medium-bodied, with a fresh, tangy drive, finishing with a long, spicy caramel note. Racy and fun.

A rich, perfumed nose of golden apple and pear leaps out of the glass. Fresh, effusive notes of mineral-laden lemon oil, apple butter and crisp Anjou pear hang about and are finished off with a dry, honeyed/marzipan aspect. Lively and refreshing despite its broad, intense palate. Gorgeous and bursting with flavor. A top-notch producer that doesn't skimp on quality.
